Office of Coast Survey TextGeoSpatial Standards Development

The Coast Survey Development Laboratory's Cartographic and Geospatial Technology Programs actively participates in the development of standards for the geographic community. This participation is at three levels:

  • The Federal Level - The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Standards Working Group (SWG) and the United States Board on Geographic Names;

  • The National Level - The American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) National Committee for Information Technology Standardization (NCITS)
    Geographic Information Systems Committee (NCITS/L1);

  • The International Level - The International Standards Organization (ISO) Geographic Information Systems and Geomatics Technical Committee (TC/211) and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
