CMTS wants to hear from you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmts.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Committee on the Marine Transportation System<\/a>, a federal inter-agency partnership that develops national MTS policy, is asking for your ideas on the future of e-navigation.<br \/>\nThey&#8217;ve set up a <a href=\"http:\/\/enav.ideascale.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unique online site<\/a> to facilitate the conversation, and they invite anyone with an interest in the U.S. marine transportation system to join the discussion. (Deadline for comments is February 28.) For background, you might want to read the committee&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmts.gov\/downloads\/CMTS_e-Navigation_Strategic_Action_Plan_Feb_2012.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">e-Navigation Strategic Action Plan<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/noaacoastsurvey.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_00491.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-803\" src=\"http:\/\/noaacoastsurvey.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/dsc_00491.jpg?w=1000\" alt=\"DSC_0049\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a>As defined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), e-navigation is &#8220;the harmonized collection, integration, exchange, presentation, and analysis of maritime information onboard and ashore by electronic means to enhance berth-to-berth navigation and related services for safety and security at sea and protection of the marine environment.&#8221;<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe committee&#8217;s e-Navigation Integrated Action Team will consider your comments as they develop their work plan and recommendations. They will also provide an analysis of all of the feedback this spring or early summer. \u00a0We will let you know when the analysis is posted, or you can monitor the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmts.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CMTS website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Join the U.S. e-navigation conversation at <a href=\"http:\/\/enav.ideascale.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/enav.ideascale.com<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The CMTS Integrated Action Team leads for e-navigation are NOAA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
