Last week was the start of National Pride Month! We will be spotlighting individuals who have helped pave the way for equality and inclusion in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning community. Last week we spotlighted Harvey Milk, who was an integral voice and public image in politics as an openly gay elected official. This week we spotlight James Baldwin, a non-straight Black American author and activist. In addition to his articles on the Civil Rights Movement, he also dedicated his life as a supporter and advocate for gender equality and androgyny. Be sure to check out Spotlight Issue 1 and Spotlight Issue 2. You will also find links to register for next week's Commerce-wide Pride Event on June 14, and the NOAA Pride Event on June 15.
