Pydro

Software for Hydrography

pydro banner

Pydro is a suite of software developed by NOAA and University of New Hampshire's Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM) HydrOffice to aid hydrography and nautical charting. Many of the programs distributed in Pydro include tools for:

  • data processing
  • depth surfaces
  • positioning and datums
  • tides
  • sound speed
  • report generation

Pydro is primarily built from open source components as well as public domain custom-developed software. The use of the Python programming language makes it quite easy to modify, enhance, and rapidly prototype applications.

While Pydro is primarily maintained to support NOAA operations, it is also being made freely available for public distribution. Information on downloading, installing, and updating Pydro can be found on the Pydro documentation page.

All components in Pydro retain their rights as spelled out in individual licenses. Additionally, due to these licensing agreements, Pydro cannot be redistributed in its entirety. PYDRO IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
